The CrossFit Open 2024 Cometh

Ah yes, the CrossFit Open. The season of sweat, camaraderie, and a touch of self-inflicted agony. It’s the time of year when Herr Boz (and now kind of Her Castro, too) and his cohort of CrossFit overlords giveth us workouts and taketh away our souls as tributes to the CrossFit gods. 

Why do we do this again? 

“For the craic!”

Now that we know what we’re in for, it’s a good time to reflect on what awaits us, especially if you’re in two minds about signing up.

All the masochistic jokes aside, the Open is, and has always been, a two-part epoxy of awesomeness. You take one half, we the people, and add the other half, the Open, and the result is a powerful bonding exercise unlike anything else you can imagine. What better way of fortifying our community than the idea that we’ll all be throwing down shoulder to shoulder on a global scale and collectively shouting expletives at our coaches? Sheds silent tear* 

But Coach Ty, I’m not into the whole crowds, bright lights and people screaming 1-more rep at me thing.

I totally get it. Contrary to popular belief (don’t scoff at me), I can be a shy dude, and crowds can easily overstimulate me. However, what I get out of seeing you, our community, achieve together trumps any anxieties or trepidations I may have. That’s my reason, and you need to find yours. 

It might seem counterintuitive, but putting yourself in an uncomfortable situation is also your biggest opportunity for growth. I’m not saying it’s easy, but I am saying that it’s necessary. My greatest fears have, in many instances, been my north star in personal achievement.

If you need help finding your reason, the few I’ve listed below might jumpstart the journey of finding your own. 

Personal Milestones

The Open is your chance to set personal records, conquer new skills, and surpass your expectations. It’s not just about the leaderboard but your individual journey.

Self-Discovery

The Open is a quest for self-discovery. It allows you to play to your strengths and confront your weaknesses. 

Overcoming Challenges

The workouts are designed to push you to your limits, physically and mentally. Conquering these challenges is a testament to your resilience, grit and personal growth.

Who wants to sit on the fence anyway? It’s a pretty uncomfortable place to sit, and you’re far better off joining us at the gym for an epic workout with all your mates. Plus, we have snacks, and EVERBODY loves a snack.
