Kids Program Update

A lot has happened in our youth’s program the last few months to say the least!

Our 6-12yr old classes are nearing capacity and the buzz in every class is awesome. I have seen some massive changes in kids who have been coming to our classes for a long time, as well as those who are relatively new. A recent highlight for me has been the success of one of our kids, Ayrton, who has been coming to us for 2 years.

The aim of our kids’ program is to create a pathway to our youth’s program where the kids have a clear path to continuing to improve their movement patterns. After a solid block of training since Christmas, Ayrton has graduated from our kids’ classes to our Youths classes where I am sure he will continue to grow and develop under the watchful eye of Coach Ty. Well done to Ayrton for all his hard work over the past 2 years, it is certainly paying off.

Schools Program

Our primary school and secondary school programs have been full since Christmas. I recently finished a 6-week block with Lissivigeen National School with the kids from 4th, 5th, and 6th classes. I had a blast with the kids, they were all very engaging and brought positive energy to class every week which made working with them even more fun. We tested their broad jump in week one and week 6 and saw some huge results. Some of the standouts were:

Tikhon: 110cm -> 147cm

Ryan: 138cm -> 159cm

Kalinda: 97cm -> 120cm

Cara: 131cm -> 149cm

Fiadh: 115cm ->164cm

James: 150cm -> 193cm

Thomas: 93cm -> 128cm

Samuel: 142cm -> 179cm

Lissivigeen had this to say about our school program:

“Over the past number of weeks fourth, fifth and sixth classes have been attending Active Youth Classes with Kayleigh Cronin. The six-week programme focused on the basic foundation movements including squats, lunge, jumping and landing. Throughout the course there was a focus on the technique’s required to perform the movements safely, through game-based activities.

The pupils also attended a Nutrition seminar which focused on nutrition, diet, portion sizes, hydration, and lifestyle.

Everyone who participated has a brilliant experience and really enjoyed the sessions. Many thanks to Kayleigh Cronin and Activate Gym.”

We will have availabilities in our school programs, both primary and secondary, after the Easter holidays.

Youths Crossfit Open

We are also recently finished our Activate youths CrossFit open which was a huge hit. Each child completed a bingo scoresheet with some fun challenges every week. Some of the challenges include doing the workout with someone in class you have never partnered up with before, giving every member of class a high 5 after the workout, completing 20 burpees outside the class and many more. We had the parents come in on the last day also to cheer all the kids on and show them support for the awesome work they are doing. We had a huge turnout and the kids loved showing off all their skills to their parents. Thank you to all who showed up, it means so much to the kids.

Upcoming Events – Summer Camp and Seminar

We have two exciting events on the way in the coming week. We are delighted to announce we will be running a free seminar for all Activate Youth members on the topic of strength training in youths. This will take place in Activate on Monday 15th April @7.30pm. This seminar is open to the public, so whether your child is a member of our kid’s classes or not is irrelevant, everyone is welcome on the night! We will be dispelling some of the many myths surrounding strength training in youths and kids, as well as outlining what we do in our classes to ensure each child improves their physical literacy. This seminar will be hugely beneficial for parents and coaches of kids between the ages of 6-18. To sign up follow this link: https://activate.gymlm.com/youthstrengthseminar-3259
We have also confirmed that our summer camp will be going ahead this summer from Monday July 8th to Friday July 12th from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Follow this link to sign up: https://activate.wodify.com/OnlineSalesPortal/PaymentPlans.aspx?OnlineMembershipId=152338&LocationId=8199&IsMobile=False
