Recipe – Protein & Energy Balls

Protein & Energy Balls

For us, Sunday is our designated prep day. If Sunday prep doesn’t happen we plan to get it done in another free hour or two during the week and freeze meals for the week ahead.

This is a great habit to get into to ensure you can keep your nutrition in check, so keep an eye on future blog posts for some meal prep ideas and how to get yourself organised.

The snacking issue

Lots of us can be very good when it comes to meal prep, however, sometimes we have gaps in our meal prep. The biggest gap we see when it comes to nutrition is snacking.

Just imagine, you sit down to watch Game of Thrones or a movie at the weekend and you want to snack on something and end up eating 5 biscuits or a whole chocolate bar.

If this sounds like a familiar story a good idea is to ensure you prep some snacks along with your meals. Having some ready made healthier snacking options prepped and ready in the fridge is a great way to stave off any nutrition wobbles!

Here’s a great little recipe for one of our favourite protein balls:

Protein & Energy Balls

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cashews (or other nuts)
  • 2 cups of pitted Medjool dates
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 3 tbsp unflavoured protein powder (or other add in some vanilla or chocolate protein powder)
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds

Instructions

  • Put all of the ingredients in a food processor (nuts first) and blend until it’s a smooth mixture.
  • Roll into little balls and store in the fridge

Result: A yummy ready made snack which is perfect with a cuppa or just before or after a workout! 🙂
