September Teen Fitness Program: Strength, Skills, and Fun
Hey Parents! We’re super excited to share what’s happening this September at Activate Youth! Our teens are in for a month packed with fun, sweat, and progress as we kick off a program that’s all about helping them build strength, learn new skills, and feel awesome about their fitness journey. If you’ve been looking for something that keeps your teen active while also making exercise something they enjoy, this program is a game-changer.
The Theme for September: Strength, Skills, and Fun
Warm-Up & Mobility: Preparing Teens for Success
Every session is designed to be engaging, challenging, and most importantly—fun! We mix things up with a variety of exercises, team games, and fitness challenges that keep them moving and motivated. Here’s a breakdown of what each week looks like:
Warm-Up & Mobility: We always kick things off with dynamic warm-ups to get those muscles loose and ready. Expect to see fun, movement-based drills like bear crawls, inchworms, and stretches to improve flexibility and get the blood flowing. Mobility is a big part of what we do because we want to make sure your teen stays injury-free and flexible as they grow.
Strength Training: Building Strong Foundations
This is the heart of the program. Teens will be working on foundational lifts like deadlifts, squats, and presses—but don’t worry, we teach them step by step. We start with lighter weights and focus on form, then gradually build up to more challenging versions as they gain confidence. They’ll be feeling stronger every week!
– Deadlifts: help build full-body strength, especially in their legs and core.
– Squats: (front, back, and Zercher variations) target the legs and core, building stability.
– Presses: (bench and overhead) are all about upper body strength, teaching them how to push weight safely.
Every exercise is broken down with progressions for different skill levels, so your teen will always be working at a pace that’s right for them. We make sure they’re confident with their form before we increase the intensity—because safety comes first!
Accessory Work: Supporting Movements
Along with the big lifts, teens will focus on smaller, supportive movements like lunges, pull-aparts, and core work. This helps them improve balance, coordination, and strength in all the right places.
Play-Based Fitness: Fun Games for Skill Development
At Activate Youth, we’re big believers that fitness should be fun—especially for teens! That’s why every session ends with play-based fitness games. Think of it as their chance to have a blast while sneaking in a workout. From games like “Steal the Bacon” and “Tug of War” to circuit challenges and sprints, they’ll be moving, competing, and cheering each other on.
These activities aren’t just fun—they also build teamwork, agility, and conditioning. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a hard workout with something they’ll actually look forward to. Plus, they’ll go home talking about how much fun they had!
New Skills: What Your Teen Will Master in September
September is all about helping teens build new skills and take their fitness to the next level. Some of the cool things they’ll be working on include:
- Double Unders: Getting fancy with jump ropes!
- Handstands and Rope Climbs: Building confidence and coordination.
- Pull-ups and Push-ups: Mastering bodyweight movements, with plenty of progressions to help them improve.
We love seeing the confidence boost that comes from learning something new—especially when they nail that first pull-up or climb a rope for the first time!
Mobility & Recovery: Why It Matters
We also teach the importance of recovery and mobility. After each session, teens will stretch and work on flexibility with things like the couch stretch, pigeon pose, and foam rolling. This not only helps with muscle soreness but also ensures they’re ready to go for the next session. We want them to feel good and stay active, not burned out.
Why Sign Your Teen Up for Activate Youth
At Activate Youth, we’re all about creating a positive, supportive environment where teens can challenge themselves, learn new things, and have fun while doing it. We’re not just helping them build strength—we’re helping them build confidence. Plus, they’ll be part of a community where they can make friends, stay active, and learn that fitness is something to enjoy, not dread.
By the end of the month, your teen will see real progress in their strength, skills, and fitness level. And they’ll walk away feeling proud of what they’ve accomplished.
